Graphic VDI now also part of the Login Online Desktop
Together with our service provider we created an environment within the Login Online Desktop where servers in the cloud are equipped with an Nvidia K1-Grid graphics card. With these servers in our infrastructure we are able to supply users who need extra graphics facilities within the online workspace, with the right amount of GPU-power.
The first test results are very promising. In our test image of the Login Online Desktop we installed applications to display rotating 3D-models, but we also tested Google Earth and several Adobe applications that are graphic intensive. By adding graphic VDI's to the portfolio of the Login Online Desktop, users that could previously only rely on the power of local hardware can also migrate to the cloud now. Think of using GIS-applications in the public sector.
In the coming weeks, the optimal configuration will be determined (vSGA or vDGA) and test by Login VSI. Then the early adopters of the Login Online Desktop will be invited to test and try the graphics workspace. Probably the graphic VDI will become available as extra hardware model for the personal VDI (not the pooled VDI).
